PROBLEM

People only think Utah Health deals with major, life-threatening issues.

So we reminded them that we take care of them no matter where they are.

Utah Health is a spectacular organization when it comes to progressive, life-saving operations and research, But (thankfully) you don’t need to be on the edge of death’s door to reap the benefits of their world-class facilities. In fact, Utah has been spending as much money on local doctor’s offices around the state to provide the same quality care on a day-to-day basis as when emergencies arise.

To help convey this, we pivoted off one of the best reasons to live in Utah – the outdoors. We created a Backcountry check-in app, a legitimately valuable tool when out hiking. You register online with important information such as your picture, blood type and other important medical information. Then when you head out for an adventure, you just draw a circle on your phone as to where you’re going and when you’ll be back. That’s it. When you get back home, the GPS knows it and checks you back in, and if you don’t it alerts the park rangers to keep an eye out. As Utah also runs AirMed helicopters, the program is a perfect fit.

To help promote it and to bring the same messaging to people who might not be headed out into the wilderness as often, we also created branded first aid kits designed to be brought along in your trunk or your frame pack, given out for free in your local Utah Health office.
